Straight Talk

What would you do for GOD?

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (Amp Version)

God put destiny is our hearts.  If in Eternity, we will be judged for what we did in our bodies and what we did with our talents (Matthew 25) then how can we be judged righteously if we never knew what to do? Of course, there are basic things we know not to do and to do, but when it comes to fulfilling our destiny, we must discover it!  In order to hear well done good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:23), we must have ruled over “something” given to us in this life. It is more than being faithful in our giving, it must be tied to our living!  Destiny does not just apply to the preacher – we are ALL called to do something great for the Father. It is that deep desire within us that reveals our calling and purpose. Destiny will always be a “nagging” within the heart, until it is pursued and fulfilled. Basically,  the CALL of destiny will never go away in a person lifetime! Always remembering that the Father conceals a matter in order for us to pursue it! (Proverbs 25:2: It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings to search it out.)
Here are several key Question only you can answer:

  1. If I knew God was with me and was totally for me…
  2. If I knew nothing could stop me and all things were possible…
  3. If I had all the resources available to me, money, equipment, support…
  4. If I knew I could succeed, no matter the struggle or time frame it took to reach my goal…

WHAT WOULD I DO FOR GOD?????

Your answer to these questions will reveal your destiny! Your passion will always lead you to your destiny!

Nothing is impossible (Matthew 19:26) for you when the Father is in it.  So take your answer ….Get busy for the King for your destiny awaits you!   Destiny – Passion – Purpose – Provision

Are you contending?

Life is a struggle.  Life is tough.  Life is difficult.  As we get closer to the end of time, we must contend for this faith.  Jude 3 says “Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to saints.”  Contend earnestly – what does that mean?  In the dictionary, Contend For means to engage in a competition or campaign in order to win or achieve (something).  It’s to compete, challenge, contest, strive, or basically fight.  Why?  Why should we do this?

Jude 4 tells us – “For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.”  There were men in Jude’s time who had perverted God’s grace and denied the authority of the Lord.  They were clever enough to infiltrate the Christian community but yet their hearts were ungodly.  Jesus called them ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing.’  These false teachers of grace believed that they had been saved by grace but could live as they pleased.  They lived immorally and rejected the authority of Christ.  You would have thought Jude was talking about 2022!

We must fight for what we believe.  We must challenge those who teach ungodliness – Contest those living immorally and stay true to our Savior Jesus Christ.  We have to fight the busy schedules and demands of life to stay in the Word and Worship.  Strive to maintain our relationship with Jesus daily.  Fight for the tenants of Faith!  Let no man deceive you!!  Fight for your faith!!! Contend earnestly for the faith today!!

He Is ABLE!

It seems life can be turned upside down in a matter of minutes.  One minute you are going about your day and the next you feel you took a wrong left turn but you didn’t even know it.  No matter if it’s a doctor visit, a test result, an unexpected bill in the mail or a phone call that you never saw coming -whatever the situation you face, know this – He is able!  He is bigger than your situation.  He is greater than your circumstance.  He is badder than the enemy out to get you!  He is able!!! He is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all you could ever think or image.  There is no sickness to great for our God.  There is no disease He has not conquered.  There is no financial bill that He cannot provide for!  There is no situation that He cannot handle!  Our God is greater, bigger, stronger, wiser!  IF He created you, then He can fix you!  He has already taken your sickness and disease upon His back and defeated the death at the Cross of Calvary!  He is able!  If every hair on your head is numbered, then I’m positive He is concerned about your current situation.  I love my children but I can’t tell you how many hairs are on their head!  Think about it.  He knows when number 47 has fallen out.  He cares so much about you!  Don’t forget HE IS ABLE and HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

Don’t Compare

Most all of my life, I have heard that you should never compare yourself to some else.  Though I do not believe I do, one day this wise instruction hit me.  You see, we live in a culture where everyone can show what, when, how and why they do things. Social media highlights those that are famous and most people copycat it.

One day I was reading an article about a family member of the Royal family and how they keep in shape.  There was this picture of them running on the beach in their skimpy bathing suit with toned legs, no belly and exceptional shape.  I read this and laughed saying, “Really, that’s all you have to do all day.”  Saying to myself, I bet if you …. Then listed everything I have to do in the week – you wouldn’t look like that!!  At that moment, I heard the sweet Holy Spirit say, “Run your race!”  I know what this meant.   In the Olympics, runners are supposed to stay in their assigned lanes.  If they deviate from their lane, they are disqualified.  I have never seen an Olympic runner run looking behind them and besides them.  They look forward at the finish line and go!  We are to run the race God has assigned to us. We are to do what He has called us to do.  As Christians, we are to run our race with passion and diligence.  If you stay in your lane -running hard while fighting hard – you will not have time to look side to side.  That is what we are to do!  Hebrews 12:1b-2a says And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

I encourage you today. Run your race.  Run with passion for Christ.  Run with determination.

Wrong Assignment

Recently I heard a story from a man of God whom Pastor and I have known thru the years. He has gone on to his Heavenly reward but was a true man of God.  He told a story that still shakes me to my core just thinking of the possibility.  You see, he was in College a few decades ago and had to take a Science class of which he chose Oceanography.  The class had about 700 students and the professor he wasn’t taking attendance but there were three test and a project.  So as along as you passed the test and did the project, this man of God thought he would be good to go.  For the project, he picked his topic doing extensive research and designed a lecture.  When he presented his lecture, it was preached rather than taught and the entire class gave him a standing ovation.  He received his project back and the professor put = Great research – incredible presentation – Final Grade F – WRONG ASSIGNMENT.  When you think about this in the spiritual realm, I don’t want to get to Heaven and stand before our Heavenly Father – only for Him to say, “You did many great things.  You worked with all your heart.  However, that isn’t what I called you to do.”   Finding out what God has called us to do is so important for our success here on earth but more importantly for our rewards in Heaven. Think about it – you don’t get to Heaven and say “Can I get a redo?”  You get one shot at this.  Find out your calling – find your God given assignment – Find the reason and purpose for which you were placed on this earth.

“He is Faithful!”

It’s seems the past few months have been a tornado that never stops.  I have had to prepare my family – husband and my 3 young ins – to leave home so they could deliver the most needed supplies to a flooded town in Tennessee.  Only to have them come home and leave again the following week for the hurricane destroyed area of New Orleans.  I stayed home because of my job and responsibilities here at the home front.  But trust me – I was super hard.  Then the test and trials of modern-day technology where you can’t get to your website to upload anything all because someone points the fingers to someone else and the vicus cycle has just begun.  Every weekend something is going on.  Work pulls you from the time you get there to well after you leave.  Long days – short nights and no rest for the weary.

But in the past few months, I have seen God’s faithful through it all.  There have been so many times I have said, “Lord I can’t do this.”  That must have been when He began to carry me by the sea shore leaving only one footprint.  He has been so faithful!  He was faithful to carry my family through 6 states and hundreds/thousands of miles.  Faithful to provide the necessary supplies – Faithful to use Fireman to host and supply gas when it couldn’t be found – Faithful to make a way when there seemed to be no way.  He is Faithful thru every trial, thru every storm, thru every situation.  He is faithful to see His word through and faithful to His promises.  All I know is thru it all I’ve learned to Trust in Jesus and I’ve learned to Trust in God!!!!  He IS Faithful!!!!

Simple Wisdom

As I have said in my last post, I have heard many powerful quotes that are based on scripture.  Scripture we truly live by daily.  Another one is Colossians 3:15 which says, “Let the Peace of God rule your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body and be thankful.” This is another one that leads me thru difficult decisions.  I once heard a preacher who was name Roberts tell a story that the Lord spoke to him and said, “2 plus 2 equals 4 Roberts.”  When something just doesn’t seem right or things just don’t add up, then it’s not what you should do.  Many times we have to make decisions about our home, our children, job, purchases, etc.  I have learned over the years that if I have a check or an uneasiness in my heart/spirit or things don’t add up that it probably not right.  I have learned the hard way – by disregarding the check and living through that decision that I should have never done.  Painful – Yes! If I just would have realized this simple truth, I could have saved myself a lot of heartache.  So if you have a decision to make, let the peace of God rule your heart.  Let His peace direct you.  Let that peace of God guide you.

Difficult Decisions

Over the years, I have been taught many saying that seem more important today than ever.  One of those sayings is…. “Never make a long term decision on a short term emotion.”  In Genesis 25, we are told the tale of two brothers and the older sells his birthright to the other.  Esau was hungry – a temporary emotion or feeling.  The birthright was such a life time benefit with blessing that would reach a long time.  Yet Esau made a long term decision on a short term emotion. How many today are making life long decision all because of a short term emotion?  People get upset yet are willing to leave everything they have worked for.  People lose a job and take their life because they can’t see the future.  These are small examples but so true.  Emotions are so temporarily.  Everything is subject to change.  Small children are a great example of emotions.  One minute they are fine – the next they are screaming their heads off – then the next they are fine again.  Don’t make any hasty decisions.  We have a policy at my house that we never make a difficult decision at night.  We must sleep on it.  We must ensure we have a clear head and a peaceful heart.  Whatever you do in these difficult days, Never make a long term decision on a short term emotion.

What’s the secret?

I have always heard the King David was a man after God’s own heart.  He was a man known as the shepherd boy that tended to his father’s sheep – known for killing a lion and a bear to protect the sheep – known for killing the giant Goliath who insulted Israel – known as the author as Psalms who played his harp and sung unto his God.  Yet I was reading and thinking about when King David was rebuked by Nathan the prophet in 2 Samuel 12.

Nathan said to King David in verses 7 and 8, “Nathan then said to David, “You are the man!  Thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘It is I who anointed you king over Israel and it is I who delivered you from the hand of Saul.  I also gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your care, and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added to you many more things like these.”

So think for a minute what Nathan just said.  He says to David, “If you wanted more, The Lord God of Israel would have given you anything additional to what you already was given if you had asked.”   So all David needed to do was ask God and he would

In Conclusion

This past week, I’ve been reading Ecclesiastes from King Solomon.  I absolutely love Proverbs and have all my life but I can’t stay there.  King Solomon, son of the great King David, is described as a fabulously wealthy and wise king of the United Kingdom of Israel.  Probably more known for his wisdom, he had about 700 wives and 300 concubines and a whole lot of money to take care of all of them and the children. Yet, with all that power, money, prestige, and anything a person could want or desire, He says in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NASB, “The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.  For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.”  What does this mean?  I’m glad you asked.  No matter who you are – No matter your status in life – No matter where you come from – when it’s all over, everything will be judged.  Even those things that were hidden and you thought no one saw or heard.  Everything you did both good and bad – God will judge.  So the greatest thing to do is Fear God and do what He says to do!

Is Jesus in your boat?

In Mark 4:36-41, Jesus and the disciples were on the boat going to the other side.  Many of the disciples were fisherman.  So they were use to being on the water every day.  They knew the boat, the water, the clouds and the storms.  They lived on the water – they understood the storm clouds.  They were not like me – an every now and then person on a boat – well ok never on a boat person.  So when you think about the events and the storm that had to appear, it must have shook them to their core.  It’s kind of like me in finance/accounting for all of my professional career 31+ years.  Many times, people get all upset and panic regarding financial issues or payroll.  I usually know what has happened and brush it off as ‘its this or that.’  Don’t worry!  So this storm had to be one they had never seen before. One of the once in a lifetime storms. It terrified them so much so that they woke Jesus up who was sleeping below.  Now honestly if Dad is taking a Sunday nap, you don’t wake him unless the house is on fire.  (You know what I mean). Jesus of course speaks to the wind and the sea and everything went back to normal.   In Verse 40 the
